Skin Booster
Many small injections of hyaluronic acid spread through an area, to hydrate skin from the inside rather than to fill a line or add volume. It changes how skin looks close up. It does not lift and it does not reshape.

What it does
The product is uncross-linked or lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid, placed as many small deposits across an area instead of one bolus in one spot. It draws water into the dermis, and the small injuries of the injections themselves prompt some remodelling. What people notice afterwards is texture, fine crepey lines and the way light sits on the skin — not a change in shape. It is done at the Lonsdale Avenue clinic in North Vancouver, usually as a short course rather than a single appointment.
Skin, not shape
Hydration and texture across an area. Nothing is being pushed forward.
A course, not a visit
Usually two or three sessions four weeks apart, then a top-up once or twice a year.
Usually a good fit
- Skin that looks dull or dehydrated, or fine crepey lines on the cheek and under the eye
- Neck, décolletage or the backs of the hands, where texture shows early
- You can come back two or three times and then keep it up
- You accept small bumps for a day, and possible bruising
Usually not
- You want volume, projection or a lift — this is not that treatment
- Acne with active infection, eczema, or broken skin in the area
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- You have something tomorrow you need to look settled for
- You are hoping one session will do it
Before
- No alcohol the night before, and tell us about blood thinners and fish oil
- Come without makeup — the skin is assessed bare, up close
- Leave a week before an event, two if you bruise easily
- Plan for the second session four weeks out before you book the first
On the day
- 01AssessmentBare skin under good light, close up, to decide the area and whether this is the right treatment for what you are seeing.
- 02NumbingAnaesthetic cream for about twenty minutes. The injections are shallow, but there are many of them.
- 03InjectionsA grid of small deposits across the area, roughly twenty minutes of injecting.
After
- Small raised bumps for twelve to twenty-four hours — that is the product sitting there, and it settles
- Bruising is possible, particularly under the eyes and on the neck
- No makeup for the rest of the day; no gym, sauna or pool for a day
- Sunscreen daily, and book the next session at four weeks while you are still here
What can go wrong
Small volumes into the skin rather than under it, so the complications are smaller too. The one worth planning around is the first day or two, not the treatment itself.
- Visible small bumps at each injection point for several hours, occasionally a full day
- Bruising, more likely around the eyes and mouth
- Swelling and tenderness for a day or two
- Infection at an injection site
- Reactivation of cold sores if you are prone to them — tell us beforehand and it can be pre-treated
- A result that underwhelms because the course was not finished. This is a course, not a visit, and stopping halfway is the most common reason people conclude it did not work
Questions we get
Is this the same as filler?
No. Same family of material, different job. Filler is placed to support or project a structure; this is spread through the skin to change its quality.
When will I see something?
A little plumping in the first week, and most of it after the second session. Skin quality changes slowly, because that is how skin works.
How often after the course?
Most people repeat it once or twice a year. Sun exposure and smoking shorten it.
Will it help acne scarring?
Not directly. Texture can look better because hydrated skin reflects light more evenly, but scarring is a separate problem with separate tools — and we will tell you which one you actually need.
Can I have it on the same day as everything else?
Sometimes. Sometimes it is better spaced out. Ask at the assessment rather than assuming.
How is it priced?
Per session, by area. The number of sessions is decided at the assessment, and the current price is on the booking page.
How long do the bumps last?
Twelve to twenty-four hours, generally. The bumps are the gel sitting where it was placed, and they settle as it disperses and draws water into the tissue. Bruising is possible, particularly under the eyes and on the neck, and takes a few days. Makeup is left off for the rest of the day and gym, sauna and pool for a day. No time off work.

Other places people start
These are sorted by what is bothering you rather than by treatment name. Each page says what actually helps, what does not, and when the honest answer is that nothing here is needed.
- Loose Skin After Weight LossLosing the weight is the hard part and you have done it. What is left is usually a skin problem rather than a fat problem, and those have completely different answers.
- Fatigue & Low EnergyThis is the concern where we are least likely to sell you anything, and we would rather say that at the top of the page than at the end of a consultation.
- Dullness & Uneven ToneDullness and dehydration are a texture problem, not a shape problem. That distinction decides which half of the menu is even relevant.
- Volume Loss & HollowsVolume loss is the change people describe as looking tired or gaunt without being able to name a line. It is also the one where over-treatment is most visible from across a room.
- Forehead & Frown LinesForehead and frown lines are muscle before they are skin. The question that decides your result is not the dose — it is whether the line is still only there when you move.
- Hooded Upper LidsThe line where this stops being an injectable question and becomes a surgical one is unusually clear, and you are entitled to be told which side of it you are on.
- Jawline & Contour LossThe most common reason people book here, and the one where the honest answer changes most with age. In your forties a device usually does it. In your sixties it usually does not.
- Nasolabial FoldsNasolabial folds are usually a symptom. Filling the fold itself is the most common way to end up looking heavy in the lower face.
- Stubborn Body FatA pocket that stays the same size while the rest of you changes. Usually the flanks, the lower abdomen, or under the chin. The useful question is not which machine to use — it is whether what you are looking at is fat at all.
- Under-Eye Hollows & ShadowsThe most common request here, and the one where the answer is most often no. Under-eye shadow has at least four causes and filler helps exactly one of them.
